When Pop Music Gives a F*ck: Chappell Roan Announces New Single and Anti-Scalper Tour
Chappel Roan is back to derail your emotional stability and cause “gay-pannick” – in the best way. The pop powerhouse just announced her new single, “Subway” dropping July 31 at 8pm EST, and it’s already shaping up to be a late-night-cry-dance classic.
To celebrate the drop, Chappel announced on her instagram story a trifecta of surprise pop-up shows in New York City, Kansas City, Missouri, and Pasadena, California. This is giving fans a rare, intimate hit of her theatrical chaos before the big stages start calling again. But this isn’t just a typical pre-album stunt – it’s a lover letter to fans and a middle-finger to scalpers.
In the instagram post July 24, Roan laid out exactly what sets this rollout apart:
Low ticket prices
No bots or scalpers
Real fans only
To make this happen, she’s teaming up with Cash App to offer 15% back when fans use a Cash App Visa debit card – and using a special ticketing system called Fair AXS, designed to filter out bots and resellers. Fans can register now through Sunday, July 27 at 11:59PM EST to be entered for a shot at tickets. After that, AXS will vet entries, remove suspicious accounts, and send purchase links only to actual people between August 5–7. It’s a slower, more thoughtful process — but that’s the point.
Average Cost of Concert Tickets in the US
In a world where concert tickets are becoming luxury items, Roan is doubling down on accessibility. And not stopping there – $1 from every ticket sold will go to organizations supporting trans youth in each of the three cities from the tour. This turns this mini tour into something more like mutual aid in eyeliner.
Coming off The Rise and Fall of a Midwest Princess, this era feels more intimate. If Pink Pony Club was a glittery entrance into queer euphoria, “Subway” sounds like it’s heading straight into the emotional underbelly – loud, honest, and absolutely not pulling over.
