A Rockstar Outta Florida: Nep Lights Up Ybor’s Crowbar
By Leo Lobo - March 8, 2026
Growing up in Florida my entire life, I have come to love and hate my home state in a very toxic ex sorta way, but nights like Nep’s tour last Wednesday make me remember why I stay. With upbeat pops, country digs, and the energy of Sabrina Carpenter and Chappell Roan, if they had a baby I don’t think the world is ready for this rockstar outta Florida.
Doors were at 7, and opener briZB was set to go on only 30 minutes after, and as someone with ADHD and awful time blindness this was a recipe for disaster. So after very quickly getting my parking and half jogging through the streets of Ybor, Tampa, I made it to the Crowbar doors.
(I made it with plenty of time and had enough of it to go to the bathroom too.)

From the start of the night briZB, opening on her first tour ever, had the room going in a beautiful way. With her enchanting blue hair and great stage presence, she made it look easy. As I walked around the back there were even people up against the wall that were stopping conversations and giving a bit more attention to the opener on the stage.
After her stellar performance it was time for the main act. With a quick changeover and Nep posting she went on at 8:30, I thought I was going to be home by 10:00, but I was not prepared for Nep’s set to be an hour and half long or for it to fly by so quickly that I almost forgot to extend my parking. I feel like it's a rarity for sets to be that long at this level or for the setlist to be banger after banger. Especially with being in a homestate crowd for this night, Nep pulled out a few oldies but goodies, but even she was surprised by how much of the crowd cheered for them and knew them.

Nep, or Noelle as she credits as her alter ego, comes out of Daytona, Florida, and makes sure everyone knows she is that Florida girl, with a song titled it coming out in September of last year. She has been releasing music for over 10 years and credits a lot of her love for it to her family, as well as inspiration from artists like Cavetown and by opening for acts like Ricky Montgomery. But she has completely turned the stage and her alter ego into something more than just a Florida girl. She is sweet, quick-witted, and ready to put on a show.
In Orlando, the night before ours she broke her guitar, saying “I smashed my guitar over her head like a crazy rockstar,” or at least that's the story we were being told to go with. Just little moments like that where she interacted with the audience and her aura in general made the night feel so intimate, almost like we were all just friends with her, chilling in a room during a jam sesh. There were moments of mess ups and oopsies but everything was laughed off and the night continued. With that energy, she and everyone in the room just felt so alive and human; it was very refreshing.
And it’s clear that the Florida girl has the support of her hometown. During one of the final songs there was a crowd fan project organized during the song ‘I will always love you alright’ where everyone had pieces of paper saying that in big caps. Honestly I don’t think I’ve seen a fan project organized at such a small level but it was so heartwarming to see and fully makes me believe she has such a long future ahead of her.
Not only from the support I saw in the crowd that night but because of everything she does and who she is. Her voice is a force to be reckoned with and her songs are a nice cold drink on the hottest Florida summer’s day; add that with her pure energy and rockstar (wink wink) stage presence and you got your next it girl in the making.
